Cataract Treatments
Cataracts are the leading cause of vision loss in people over the age of 55. In the United States, 75 percent of all people over the age of 60 show signs of cataracts as a normal consequence of aging. Other factors can also contribute to cataract development. These include genetics, excessive UV exposure, diabetes, tobacco use, some medications (such as steroids), and other eye diseases. Cataracts are treated by surgery when a change of glasses no longer help.
Vision Correction
Refractive surgery, the name for all vision correction surgeries, includes a variety of procedures. These options include LASIK, CustomVue™ LASIK, PRK, and implant procedures such as Visian® ICL (implantable contact lens), Refractive Lens Exchange and KAMRA. Each patient will meet with a refractive technician to customize your visual plan.
Refractive Surgery
Refractive surgery is the term used to describe surgical procedures that correct common vision problems (nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism and presbyopia) to reduce your dependence on prescription eyeglasses and/or contact lenses.
LASIK / CustomVue
LASIK is corrective surgery to a very delicate part of the eye. Millions of people have had LASIK surgery to correct their vision and experienced great success. In LASIK treatments, an eye surgeon makes an incision (with either a laser or a blade) into the cornea to create a flap of tissue in order to carefully reshape the layers of the cornea to repair imperfections in curvature that lead to distorted vision. If you have questions about LASIK, give us a call.
The CustomVue procedure uses WaveScan-based technology to measure not only nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism, but also higher order distortions in the vision. CustomVue procedure involves the same process as LASIK, but treats your vision more "custom" like a fingerprint.
PRK treats refractive errors on the surface of the cornea.

Reading Vision
The KAMRA inlay helps restore near vision and reduce the constant frustrations of reading glasses and blurry reading vision. By providing a natural range of vision you can see - from near to far. KAMRA also offers long-term performance to help you continue to enjoy clear vision over time, providing a natural range of vision.
Glaucoma
Glaucoma is a disease of the eye that affects the optic nerve and is a common cause of blindness. Elevated eye pressure can block fluids from circulating normally through the eye causing nerve damage. There are two types of glaucoma: open-angle and closed-angle. Vision that is lost from glaucoma cannot be restored, but early detection and treatment can help save your sight.
Macular Degeneration
Macular Degeneration is a chronic eye disease that may affect one or both eyes and causes central vision loss. It is the leading cause of blindness after age 50. While side vision remains clear, the central, sharp vision is affected by either dry or wet macular degeneration.
Retinal Treatments
The retina is the light sensitive tissue lining the back of the eye and is essential for creating the image that is transferred to the brain. Light rays are focused onto the retina through our cornea, pupil, and lens. The retina converts the light rays into impulses that travel through the optic nerve to our brain, where they are interpreted as the images we see. If the retina begins to pull or tear away from its support tissue, it can allow fluids to seep underneath the retina, leading to detachment. The retina does not work when it is detached. A retinal detachment is a very serious problem that can cause blindness unless it is treated.
Eye Lid Surgery
Blepharoplasty is eyelid surgery that can remove excess skin and fatty tissue to repair a drooping eyelid. Eyelids can interfere with your peripheral vision if they begin to droop. Eyelid surgery addresses these conditions and can be used to eliminate puffy bags below the eye as well. Surgery can help the eyelid return to its natural position and relieve these symptoms.
