Forakis Law Firm PLC,
Probate is a long legal process that occurs after a death in the family. It typically involves identifying the deceased person's property and having it appraised, proving that the person has a legitimate will, and paying outside debts and taxes. Probate can last at least 6 months and, depending on complications that can occur, can often go on for 2 years. During this period of time, property and vehicles may NOT be sold. Probate can be very complicating and expensive and is the last thing that anyone wants to focus on after the loss of a loved one. It is a difficult time for everyone and having assets tied up in the legal system is not ideal for any situation.
