The 2008-2009 school year is my 7th year as an English teacher in southern Arizona. The large majority of my students are fluent in both English and Spanish. Mostly our classtime is spent formalizing their English usage and vocabulary as well as preparing them to pass the AIMS test which is required by the state of Arizona for high school graduation.
I enjoy working with the students and seeing their faces light up with success and understanding. Though the profession is rewarding it has its difficulties. One of my main struggles is dealing with so many parents with so little interest in their children's education.
