Rick Crawford is an Amarillo commercial real estate broker licensed in Texas since 1972. Rick is a 1976 graduate of The University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor of business administration degree with emphasis in real estate and finance. Between 1976 and 1988 Rick brokered or developed properties in over 40 cities in Alabama, Alaska, Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. In 1988, Rick was elected to the Texas House of Representatives. During his tenure as a State Representative, Rick co-sponsored and helped pass a number of pro-business bills, including the Worker's Compensation Reform Bill and the Wilson-Crawford Bill establishing the Texas Lottery. After his second term, Rick accepted the position of Special Assistant to the newly elected house Speaker, James E. "Pete" Laney. While serving the Speaker, he oversaw the $192 million Capitol Restoration project, on behalf of the House. He also acted as the Speaker's representative on the Texas Bond Review Board.
In 1995 Mr. Crawford was named Executive Director of the State Preservation Board ("SPB"), chaired by then Governor George W. Bush. While serving as Executive Director, he oversaw the south Capitol Grounds Restorations Project, which was successfully completed on schedule and under budget. The 75th Legislature directed him construct the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum. The project was completed on time and $2 million under budget at $78,000,000. His agency also operated the Museum, which had a net profit of $1.8 million its first year.
In April of 2003, Rick returned to Amarillo and re-engaged in the real estate business. Today, he is the owner of Republic Realty, LLC.
