Founded in Berks County, PA in 1946
Richard I Hart, Sr., a former CNA underwriter, saw the increasing need for quality and professional insurance services in the Reading area. In 1946, after serving as a pilot in World War II, Dick Hart opened the agency doors with only a typewriter on his kitchen table. Dick founded the agency with a firm commitment to the growth and success of not only the business, but also the community in which he lived.

Dick Hart's fundamental business principle was to "treat every customer equally and with respect". Each customer was to receive a comprehensive analysis of their needs and exposures. This core value has remained a cornerstone of the agency's philosophy for over 60 years!

In 1974, after graduating from Drexel University, Richard I Hart Jr. joined forces with his father and continued his father's core values. Under Rich's leadership, the agency has thrived and expanded. In 1997, the Richard I Hart Insurance Agency became a regional office of Keystone Insurers Group which gave customers direct access to better insurance coverage, pricing and service. Rich helped Keystone Insurers Group conceptualize the franchise concept and today there are over 135 franchises across PA, NC, VA, OH and IN. Keystone Insurers Group is the 4th largest privately owned insurance agency organization in the country with over $1 billion in written premiums.

True to his father's values, Rich is committed to the community and growth to the surrounding area. The Community Insurance Agency was the first insurance agency in Berks County formed to service the Latino community. Rich participates on two Boards of Directors: Cypress Walk Townhome Condo Association and Berkshire Bank, as a founding member. Rich remains involved in various other community and professional organizations.
In 1997, Richard I Hart Inc. acquired NG Marks Insurance Agency in Myerstown and in 2000, the Willis Nolt Ins. Agency from Rehrersburg. Richard I Hart Inc. now helps protect people and their assets out of 2 locations: Mt. Penn/Reading and Myerstown. The Richard I Hart insurance legacy lives on and is here to provide you protection, value and peace of mind.
