Who We Are

Our agency was founded in 1862 in Davenport as the William F. Ross Co. The firm was known as Hornby and Ruhl in 1903, Ruhl and Mittelbuscher in 1910 and Ruhl and Wernentin in 1915. The current name of Ruhl & Ruhl dates back to 1919 when brothers, Edward Ruhl and C. Arthur Ruhl joined the firm, which was located in the old Masonic Temple building on the northeast corner of Third and Main streets, Davenport.

In 1923, Ruhl & Ruhl moved to 217 Main Street, which is now the First Federal Building. The Agency remained there until 1946 when it moved to the First National building in downtown Davenport. In 1949-50, John G. Ruhl and his brother, Charles A. Ruhl, joined the Agency.
