Silverstein & Maddox Insurance, Inc
After a brief stint working for the Home Insurance Company in New York City, Robert F. Silverstein returned home to Charleston to work for Commercial Insurance Services (an independent agency that his father (an attorney) had founded with Frank Baer, Sr. around 1950). In 1956, Robert F. Silverstein left Commercial Insurance Services and started a scratch agency using Travelers Insurance Company as his first company represented and CNA Insurance as his second.
The agency operated successfully over the years under his direction when, in 1987, Robert F. Silverstein recruited his stepson, Timothy A. Maddox to join the agency for future perpetuation. After a brief merger and de-merger in 1990 and subsequent company and employee adjustments, Tim finished purchasing 100% of the agency effective January 1, 1994.
Subsequent years have seen the purchase of Wallace & Associates, an agency founded by our own Harry Wallace; Glasgow Insurance Agency, an agency owned by Fred Nichols, Frisby Insurance and McMichen Insurance.
Silverstein & Maddox Insurance, Inc. operates from two locations ( Charleston and Glasgow, WV) and services WV and surrounding states with an experienced staff of insurance professionals.
