Denver Michael Latimer was born in Sacramento, CA in 1969 and grew up in Chico, CA before graduating from the University of Washington in Seattle in 1991 with a B.A. in Comparative History of Ideas. He received his MFA in Theater Management from Yale in 2000 and his J.D. in law from City University of New York in 2008.

After college in the early 90′s he started a community theatre called The Blue Room in downtown Chico and today serves on their Board of Directors. His interest in criminal defense began when he was living in Brooklyn, New York and began noticing the heavy police presence and disproportionate arrest rate in the predominantly African American neighborhoods where he lived. At law school he studied under Professor Steve Zeidman and was a part of the CUNY Defenders Clinic that defended indigent defendants in Queens. He also interned with and conducted investigation for legendary Manhattan public defender Tom Klein.

Upon graduation from law school, he joined his father's practice in Chico, CA and has been defending people charged with crimes as well as performing legal research on some of the highest profile criminal cases in Butte County. He currently serves on the Board of Inspire School for the Arts and Sciences and the Blue Room Theatre. Latimer is a member of the State Bar of California and the American Bar Association.
