Craig Sweitzer founded Urban Works Real Estate in 2002 with the help and commitment of Dan Bozich.

Urban Works Real Estate moved from our original Pearl space office, into our redeveloped and restored historical Jefferson Station Building in downtown Portland to better centralize our brokerage efforts and to grow the company. We have leased or sold over 1,500,000 square feet of central city/neighborhood retail space over the past eight years.

Urban Works is Portland's only retail brokerage company that focuses solely on local, ground floor storefronts and retailers. That is all we do. We don't list the so-called "lifestyle malls" (what is that anyway?) or "power centers" in the suburbs, nor do we lease office space or sell residential condos like many of our competitors.

Our dedication is simply retail and retail's connection with our community.

Brokerage specialties include leasing ground floor storefronts, restaurants, pre-leasing for developers, mixed-use projects, sales, retailer renewals, consulting and tracking retail rent comparables to add value to our client's negotiations. No retailer is too small or large for our consideration. We have over twenty-five years of experience negotiating complex national leases as well as working with creative, local independent retailers. Every retailer and landlord is equally important to Urban Works. Working on behalf of our client's to do what is best for their real estate is foremost. Creating an equal balance between local and national retailers with the needs of a neighborhood are essential and ultimately sustaining.

Our goal is to continue to enhance urban neighborhoods with authentic, quality retailers that help provide a true sense of place for all of us. Retail is about change and that is what helps makes our city livable and interesting.
