William Heikkinen
I am William Heikkinen from Rhode Island. I was born in Massachusetts in 1994 and my entire family loves sports including skiing, fishing, basketball, baseball, and football, so it's no wonder I possess an affinity for football. As a child, I started my sports career with a stint in the baseball Little Leagues of Andover, Massachusetts.
William Heikkinen is the over-achiever's over-achiever. A star football player and lover of all things sport, he also makes excellent grades. And by excellent we mean good enough to get into an Ivy League school.
As if that weren't enough, William and several of his high school peers also volunteered at a local Massachusetts elementary school to mentor students; helping them with academics and overall self-confidence boosting.
William Heikkinen has loved sports from an early age. About the time he was old enough to hold a bat, he started playing little league baseball in the summers. Then in eighth grade he played football and after myriad hours of work and practice found out he was quite good at it. Very good, in fact.
William played on his high school team, the Golden Warriors in Andover, Massachusetts plus he ran track and made Honor Roll every term. As a response to all his hard work, awards started hurtling William's way:
Lettered in football three years
Lettered in track and field
Named First Team All-State by the Boston Globe and Boston Herald (after recording 72 catches for 1175 yards and 9 touchdowns his senior year)
All-Merrimack Valley Conference selection
Named Student Athlete of the Month by the Eagle Tribune
Closed high school football career with 126 catches for 1960 yards
Seven career interceptions on defense
Winner of the Chemistry and Survey of Film Underclassmen awards
With statistics like these it was no surprise when the Ivy League came calling and William Heikkinen chose Brown University for his collegiate experience. He would follow in the footsteps of many great football players who went from Andover, Massachusetts to Providence, Rhode Island to play for the Bears including: James Perry, Bill O'Brien and Andy Coke to name just a few.
Currently William is a freshman at Brown University and a wide receiver for the Brown Bears football team sporting number 88. He is a member of the 2017 graduating class.
