Business Databases - Applications and Uses

Continuing the topic of various business topics, today I will take a look at why you might want to buy a business database.

There are many online and brick and mortar businesses that could use a business database.  The business database I am talking about is a list of over 20,000,000 businesses.  All of these businesses are located in the United States, and the huge database is broken down by state.  Additionally, it is ready to use in your MSQL applications, giving one a wealth of information immediately.

The uses of a large database such as this that we will look at include using it for sales leads, and using it to create web sites for profit.

Using a business database for sales leads is pretty self explanatory.  If you are a business that has other businesses as clients, I don't have to tell you the value of having a database of over 20 million US based businesses from which to market.  Whether marketing through direct mail or setting up some kind of phone campaign with a predictive dialer or even an auto dialer (be sure to check your local regulations and laws for these types of marketing campaigne), the database is easily imported and you are off and running immediately.

The second use for such a huge database that we will look at is using it for web site applications.  There are numerous application uses for a US company database.  You can create a yellow page directory, a local directory, or even a national directory sorted by company type.

When creating web sites of this nature, there are just as many ways to make money with them as there are types of directories you can create.  If you run the directories yourself, you can market and sell advertising space.  A good way to do this is to put together a local yellow page site and get it ranking well in the search engines.  Location specific keywords are relatively easy to rank for, and once you have good rankings on various pages, selling advertising space to your local businesses is much easier.  For example, it may be very tough to rank well for the keyword "plumbers", but to rank on the first page of google for "anycity plumbers" is not a difficult task.

Another way to make money with these directory type web sites is to create them and sell them.  Once you have a template and the business database to create the back end needed, it is not hard to create a number of sites.  It becomes a cookie cutter type of process.  Once you have the sites created, you can sell them in a number of ways.  Take a look on Ebay sometime and see all the sites for sale.  People love the yellow page type of web sites, and they are good sellers.

They key in all of this is having a solid database of us companies to draw from.  These sell online for a wide range of prices, I've seen very similar lists selling for around $1,000.  More commonly, you will find them selling for the $300 range.  The least expensive business database for sale I've seen, however, runs $50.  A great value, over 20 million US businesses, ready for your application now.
